About Charmain

Where Healing Takes Root

Welcome to Harvest Counseling. I'm Charmain, LCSW, CASAC-T, PhD, CCTP-II, a trauma therapist with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families heal, grow, and reclaim their lives.

I believe that healing happens when people feel truly seen, understood, and supported. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can process difficult experiences, develop resilience, and move toward the life you desire.

My work is grounded in the belief that while trauma can profoundly impact the brain, body, relationships, and sense of self, healing is possible. I help clients understand how past experiences shape present challenges and equip them with practical tools to foster emotional wellness, greater self-awareness, and lasting growth.

My Approach

I specialize in treating trauma, OCD, depression, neurodivergence, relationship challenges, and life transitions using evidence-based approaches tailored to each client's unique needs.

My advanced training includes:

  • Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II)

  • Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Welfare from Yeshiva University

As a trauma specialist, I understand that many behaviors often viewed as problems are actually survival strategies developed in response to overwhelming experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I ask, "What happened to you?"

Together, we work to understand patterns, regulate the nervous system, process difficult experiences, and build healthy coping strategies that support meaningful change.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Care

I provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy for autistic individuals, ADHDers, and other neurodivergent clients.

I view neurodivergence not as something that needs to be fixed, but as a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. My approach focuses on recognizing strengths, honoring sensory needs, supporting authentic self-expression, and creating space for unmasking without judgment.

I understand the exhaustion that can come from navigating a world built around neurotypical expectations. Therapy can be a place where you feel understood, validated, and empowered to develop strategies that work for your unique brain and experiences.

Trauma-Informed OCD Treatment

For individuals struggling with OCD, I offer evidence-based treatment using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), ultimate benchmark, approach for OCD.

ERP helps clients gradually face fears, reduce compulsive behaviors, and develop a healthier relationship with uncertainty. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma informed to help clients build confidence while moving toward greater freedom and peace.

I provide a steady pace that lets you handle daily life while using structured ERP. I use CBT and ACT to challenge core beliefs that fuel OCD and related issues like depression and anxiety.

Culturally Responsive and Faith-Informed Care

I am committed to providing culturally responsive therapy that honors the unique experiences, values, identities, and backgrounds each client brings into the therapy room.

For clients who desire it, I also thoughtfully integrate Christian faith-based and biblical principles into the therapeutic process. My approach remains clinically grounded while creating space for spiritual exploration, healing, and growth.

My Philosophy

I believe every person possesses the capacity for healing, growth, and transformation. Just as a harvest begins with a seed planted in healthy soil, healing begins when we create the conditions for safety, compassion, and growth.

At Harvest Counseling, my hope is to help you cultivate resilience, reconnect with your strengths, and discover the possibilities that exist beyond pain and survival.

If you're ready to begin your journey toward healing and emotional wellness, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
